Yal Solan
Singer-Songwriter, Multidisciplinary Artist
Samer talks with Yal Solan, co-founder of Alternative Kitchen and host of the Vegan Guide Show. Yal traces her path from a yoga and meditation workshop in 2017 to cutting out land animals, and to going fully vegan in 2020: listening to her body, and not wanting her food to cost another being pain. She answers the lines vegans hear most, from “where do you get your protein?” to “God permitted it”, shares practical tips for eating out and at home, and points out how much of the Lebanese table, starting with the mezze, is vegan already. She ends on why she sees veganism as a feminist question: the dairy cow, made pregnant again and again, and her calves taken away.
